CHILDHOOD DEPRESSION
Although you may not believe the children also become depressed, and we are seeing increasingly younger ages and cases. The combination of genetic predisposition to a number of risk factors such as parental divorce, or the bad environment at school, or the existence of persistent conflict, and physical or sexual abuse are some of the situations that create mental health danger of a child.

We have always believed erroneously that childhood is a time beautiful, wonderful, no conflicts, no problems, no penalties, but not so.

LOSSES AND ACHIEVEMENTS
The development and growth also, inevitably, losses and gains. The birth of a sibling, parental separation, divorce, changes of address, changes of school and other everyday situations involving a psychic work, and are the feelings of sadness, decay and fragility.

The passage of time and subtle own limitations posed duels that leave their traces and try to solve the child has an arsenal that combines self-assessment, recognition and the image returns to life itself. When this arsenal is very poor, there is a deficit that is a proper climate for the presentation of depression.

The oft-mentioned inferiority complex reveals the dissatisfaction of one’s gaze upon him, as hints or experiences power still depressed.

For us as parents, besides impotence, misleads us about what to do, or doing or when or when not to do and how can I tell if my child is depressed?

Depression is a treatable disease and cure. To heal, you must necessarily drugs (antidepressants). These drugs are more effective if you follow along with psychotherapy. Many falsely believe that we must choose between psychotherapy and medication. There is nothing quite the contrary, the two complement treatment: medication and psychotherapy together and cons depression.

The treatment of depression takes time. Experts believe, in fact it must last at least six months. Below this length, you may relapse. And if you’ve been depressed once in your life, you do not want to repeat. To heal, it is necessary to regularly monitor your treatment. This is the key to success, yet we know that three patients did not follow his treatment well.

Ensure proper adherence

Is it lack of information? Maybe. So you must ask your doctor all the questions that interest you and which it must respond. If you do not understand what you said (this is often the case), please let him rest the same questions, saying that you do not understand. If the doctor, meanwhile, can not answer your questions, it must tell you, because in medicine we know a lot of things.

Often the depressed feels guilty because he lacks commitment, he did not want anything. This desire is not part of depressive illness. Precisely because you are depressed, your will you miss, you’ll find when you go the better.

Effective treatment

With treatment, you’ll feel better fairly quickly, usually after a couple of weeks of antidepressant treatment. In two months, you will be as you were before your illness. It must then continue your treatment, even if you are well, for several months or years. The treatment failures are very rare. Sometimes it is necessary to try several antidepressants following to find one that suits you.

Your environment is a necessary adjunct to successful treatment: so do not hesitate to support you in your family, your friends, your spouse, talk to them about your illness. It is very helpful if your doctor knows your family, that dialogue with them and inform. Mostly depressed patients are not hospitalized. Yet it is sometimes necessary when the depression is very severe, that relations with the relatives are bad or that the suicide risk is important.

Hypnosis, relaxation therapy, NLP, EMDR, EFT … brief therapies are gaining momentum! And because these methods to address your fears and try to make them disappear in a few sessions.

Unlike conventional therapy, brief therapies are mostly interested in solutions, not causes. The goal in brief therapy is not to “understand the source of a problem,” but rather “how to remove it. These therapies are based on an objective change in a given time (no more than ten meetings in general). If the brief therapies are interesting for problems related to stress, they are not always suitable for all ills and do not necessarily replace the analytical work. However, if you want to learn how to manage your emotions, they can be quite effective.

Some techniques used in brief therapy:
Hypnosis: This technique puts you in an intermediate state between waking and sleep, a pleasant state of deep relaxation which is fast diminishing the impact of your stressors. Under hypnosis, you can remember events forgotten. From there, work can be done to release your tensions facing a deadlock or a particular situation. Contrary to popular belief, hypnosis does not make you lose control of yourself and you can always interrupt a meeting.
The relaxation therapy: This method uses relaxation and positive thinking is very effective against stress because it teaches you to listen to your body and control your breathing. The visualization work on a positive event or distressing situation can also help to relativize and make the distance. To release tension, Schultz autogenic training, is particularly recommended. This exercise is based on research of sensations of heaviness and heat in the body provides a deep relaxation.
NLP (neuro-linguistic programming): This therapy is based on communication and language, proposes to identify the type of relational system that you adopt in a stressful situation. It can then improve the perception you have of the situation, then reprogram more positive attitudes in cases of anxiety.
The EMDR: highlighted by psychiatrist David Servan-Schreiber in his bestseller “Healing” and “Anti-cancer,” EMDR is a technique that helps surprising to “reprogram” the brain through eye movements. Particularly effective against post-traumatic stress, this gymnastics eyes would act on neurons and brain, and blur the traumatic memories.
The EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is a form of acupuncture without needles, which acts on the energy system of meridians of the body. The fingers stimulate certain points while you focus on your problem. This recent method (developed by Gary Craig, California, 1991) relieves many symptoms including occasional or chronic stress.

Some precautions

Some low-skilled people are riding the wave of well-being without making any serious help. So take care not to confide in anyone. Namely brief therapies are not recommended for people with psychiatric disorders.
